macOS J2EE on OSX?

Obviously, I can do java dev on my mac...but can I do J2EE (servlets, etc)?
Sun doesn't list MacOS on their supported platforms :-(

I had Tomcat installed ages back and it worked fine.

They don't list OS X as a supported platform for their Sun Java System Application Server (which may work, just unsupported), but you can use:

http://jetty.mortbay.org/jetty/

The list goes on...

So, yes you can "do J2EE" in OS X. See http://developer.apple.com/internet/java/enterprisejava.html as a starting point

Even Macromedia lists Mac OS X as one of the platforms on which JRun 4 will run: http://www.macromedia.com/software/jrun/productinfo/systemreqs/ even though their J2EE development tools don't seem to run on Mac OS X.

Thanks...got Tomcat setup, and building servlets. What IDE's do you use? Eclipse seems to crash on OS X when compiling servlets with Tomcat's servlet.jar in the library path.

For now I've resorted to jEdit for writing the java programs, then build with Ant. However, I prefer a more fully integrated environment. The Tomcat plugin for Eclipse is also not working for me.

You can look into the MyEclipse IDE plugin for eclipse - I have had pretty good luck with stability with this.

Otherwise, I have heard VERY good things about IntelliJ IDEA ($$$).
