I'm assuming this a dumb question, but, we cant jailbreak (not unlock), 3.0 with a previous version of quickpwn right? I've already updated to the official 3.0, probably should have waited, i was an xgps user.. i've heard the only way to go "back" is to put itunes 8.1 or previous back on and go from there?

Has anyone heard an eta? Has anyone heard an ETA until the appstore has a real GPS utility for non-jailbroken phones?

Thanks

TomTom is coming out with an app, but it will not be free.

I suspect XGPS will always have a place....

Well if not outrageously expensive, i'd probably try it, as long as its turn by turn.

Dummy me, updates to 3.0, 1 day before a trip, now without jailbroken and xgps, i feel naked to have to rely on google maps and no turn by turn.

Has anyone downgraded back to 2.2x? I do have a backup from a few weeks ago, if it werent hard to do, i think i'd revert back and restore the backup.. then i'd restore the v3.0 backup once the jailbroken quickpwn is out.

Actually it would seem, if you have a mac, you can use pwnagetool 3.0 to do the jailbreak right now..

Or download a custom ispw and install it via itunes.. which is what i've done as of now.. (my friend used same file and it worked).

Which custom file did you use? I used one on these forums and got 1604.

if someone supplies you with a pwned .ipsw file for 3.0, you should be able to restore using it, granted you know how to place your iPhone into DFU mode and load a custom .ipsw file.

funny, i just got a 1604, from the same file my friend claims he was able to do it on. Anyone know what this means? (i used the non activated custom file)

If someone knows of a place to host files, I'll supply you with my custom .ipsw

Try skydrive from microsoft.. all you need is a windows live account, then you just give out the link to the file?

I forget how to get out of DFU mode...

to get out of DFU, I believe you need to hard reset the phone, while it is unplugged from your Computer-to-iPhone usb cable. I am currently uploading my custom .ipsw file to megaupload, should be about 8 minutes.

What carrier are you with?

I'm with verizon..

I did try doing a hold of home and power button, it reboots, but back to the power cable itunes logo dfu mode thing...

I'll wait for your file i guess first :)

Yes, you can get out of DFU.

When in DFU, hold down the home button and the power button for about 10 seconds. If your phone is connected to your computer you'll hear a beep as when a USB device is disconnected.
Next just press the power button and your phone will startup at usual.

If you've just accidentally dropped into DFU and done nothing more, then the above will get you out.

If you're in DFU and mid-way through a failed restore, then you will need a complete iTunes restore to get you out.

still uploading, the estimated time is lying to me :(
I'll try and find another location to host while it's going...

currently uploading to MobileMe account, markm75 check your msg inbox for link.

Edit: nvm, you don't have messaging turned on lol.

I just turned it on, thanks for letting me know and thanks for the link :)

You guys rock.

If this fails, i will try pwnage though, will post results in either case.

In the meantime i wanted to just try the standard restore on the iphone to get it out of DFU mode.. it says an unknown error has occurred...

I'm at a loss here..

EDIT.. i then tried a restore, pointing it to the original apple ispw... it appears to be progressing.. back to where i was anyway.

when it is completed being uploaded, you will find it at:

Unfortunately this one didnt work for me either..

I'm on vista x64 ultimate with sp2.

I tried it on different boxes too.
