Hello,..and thanks in advance. I have the original iphone and want to upgrade to the latest g3s iphone. I would like to give my old iphone to my kid,...but dont need to change carriers. We use ATT. I would like to just put her sim card into the iphone and let it work for her....she dosnt use the data plan nor do I want to pay for the data plan for her. I have heard that if you use the iphone you must have a data plan.

So does jailbreaking the iphone solve all these problems and will just let me pop in her sim card and use as her phone, with also the option of adding apps?

and if so, which jailbreak program should I use?
thanks, Rob

Jailbreak allows you to run non-Apple applications and make non-Apple modifications to your phone. If you are using AT&T sim, no unlock should be necessary.

AT&T generally requires the $30 unlimited data plan with any iphone. As far as having no data plan, you will have to work that out with AT&T or use an AT&T sim from a phone which has no data plan.

Bewarned that many of the stock iPhone apps use data time (other than just phone calls) so without a data plan, you will have to shut off data transfer to & from phone, either in phone settings or try to get AT&T to do it.

Good luck.

Have you tried to Google your problem (like iPhone with no data package) to see other people's experiences ?

www.unlockit.co.nz

This just solves your problem, access the site from the safari browser on your iPhone and it will change your APN address to a fake one so you can't access data. You can remove anytime you want.
Then put her simcard inside the old iphone and you're good.
No data used unless the iphone is connected on wifi.

Thanks guys,..hey question on that last solution,...will the user of this "non" data iphone be able to text message?
