Ok, I think I probably know the answer to this question, but I'll go ahead and ask it anyway. A while back, I decided the bug fixes in 8.3 were worth losing my jailbreak on 8.1.2. I did a DFU restore to 8.3 and set up as a new phone to make sure there was no trace of the jailbreak left behind. Yesterday, I updated to 8.4 using iTunes (not OTA).

I've decided I want to hop back on the jailbreak train since 8.4 will likely be the last version until iOS 9 drops in September. This brings me to my question. Since I did the update to 8.4 in iTunes, do I still need to do a full restore and set up as new before jailbreaking? I know a restore is a must if you update OTA. But I'm hoping it won't be necessary here since an update in iTunes downloads the full firmware file and overwrites the entire system files partition of the phone's storage drive. In that case, wouldn't an update just be about the same as doing a restore and reloading all my data?

I'm just really hoping I won't have to wipe my phone. I have everything set up about how I want it. Thanks in advance!
