I noticed earlier this week I had nearly 2gb worth of "other" data synced to my phone, did some research and decided to restore my phone to factory and set up as a new device. I've since jailbroken again, only with a few tweeks, and am again seeing 1.7gb worth of "other" data.

Is this common with jailbroken devices?

Yes. Well, depending on amount of apps downloaded on Cydia, normal.

What device and iOS version are you using? There's a bug in iOS that keeps all text message attachments even after you delete the conversation from the messages app. These add up over time and give users a huge "other" category.
