Hello everybody, and thanks in advance for any help that i am given.
I have an iphone 5 "running" on ios 6.0.1.
A month or so ago my sleep/wake button stopped working and a friend told me to jailbreak so i could remap the lock button with one of the volume buttons. So, I did that, and my phone was working well until earlier today when I dropped it on concrete and the screen shattered. So, I've had luck in the past with apple customer service, but I know they don't like jailbroken phones. So I went into settings and erased all content(I now know that you shouldn't do this when jailbroken.). So my phone is stuck in what I think is the "endless loop mode" That is, there is a small "loading" circle rotating on my screen and it's been that way for several hours now.
Now, my phone is not recognized by itunes(i tried another device, it's not my usb port). The advice I've seen is to hold the power/home button, but my power button doesn't work, so that's not working obviously. I've tried different usb ports, cords, updating itunes, checking to make sure ports were to apple and not cydia. I basically have no idea what to do. I immensely appreciate any help/pointers. Right now I'm guessing I just need to go to the apple store and see what they can do - so I have an appointment tomorrow morning to try to get me out of this self-inflicted crappy situation.

Thanks again!

Can someone perhaps move this to the tech support boards if that would work better?

At this point, it doesn't even matter. You're probably going to get a OOW replacement (pay $229) so I don't think they'll look if the device is jailbroken or not. They'll just check what device it is

If iTunes won't recognize your iPhone, I imagine something in the drop affected the port in some way. Does windows explorer detect your phone? If it does, then try rebooting your computer

Let me see: broken power button, shattered screen and a boot loop,
Bring it in to Apple and pay the replacement, nothing can be done here.

And no they won't restore it....
