A friend of mine just told me the jailbreak for 8.1.x is out in the open. I have two questions (that are sort of connected):

1. How does it work? Anyone have any complains with iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak on iPhone 4s?

2. Are there tweaks and cheats... idk... like a NoHandoff or whatever that can improve performance and reduce lagginess in case it happens.

I'm asking this because I made a post earlier about upgrading and not being able to go back. Truth is I'm really eager to try and use handoff and sms sharing with my mac... but I'm also terribly scared of how bad they talk about iOS 8 for 4s on the web... But with jailbreak I would assume there are tweaks that would improve the performance and (if nothing else) disable some of the new features to recover said performance.

Thanks.

You should ask your friend since they seem to have info no one else has about 8.1.1 jailbreak release.

JB doesn't increase or decrease performance of your device. Of course you can control the animation speed as you wish but that doesn't really count as a performance upgrade.

What I expect from JB is too disable features like handoff or other stuff (thus freeing CPU, RAM but not disk space). At least then in case iOS 8 slows my 4s down a really whole lot, I can make sure to boil it down to it's basic features and still have a minimilastically functional phone.

About JB for 8.1.1:
you guys are right, it seems it was a news page both me and my friend read a little too fast.

It's hard to find tweaks that will speed your phone up or improve its performance simply because the processor is hardly managing all the new stuff iOS 8 introduced. Jailbreaking it will have a very little impact on the performance of your phone, but it will be a negative one. It essentially adds more code to process, thus slowing your phone down. If you are on any iOS8 update, use this guide on how to safely jailbreak your iPhone:

They cover everything.

If you get disappointed with the performance of your phone, or something else simply restore and use it like you used. Developers behind jailbreak make it so easy for users to jailbreak with very little risk of damage.

So try it and see for yourself!
