Hi guys,

I've tried to jailbreak my newly updated to 3.0 via itunes on friday and it keeps on getting stuck at where it says "Waiting for Reboot". I tried both on Windows and Mac and I can't seem to get past it. I have been writing this message really slow to see if anything will happen but nothing seems to happen still and it's been about 15 minutes since it said Waiting for Reboot.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thnx

What are you using? Redsn0w or Quickpawn?

I recommend redsn0w on PC. Just get 3.0 ipsw from your Mac and drop it on a thumb drive. Start redsn0w, direct it to the ipsw and it takes about 3 minutes.

Here is some additional...
All you need is a copy of the 3.0 restore ipsw.

You can get a copy right off your own MAC if you have updated to 3.0 (User/library/iTunes/software I think)

Just copy it on a thumb drive and then to a Windoze machine. Run the Windoze version of Redsn0w and point it to your own copy of the IPSW you moved/copied.

Couldn't be easier or safer.

I tried both quickpwn and redsnow on mac. I am not sure what I am doing really with quickpwn.Everything goes well till the end on quickpwn, it creates an ipsw file on the desktop and I am not sure what to do after that.

Redsnow, I tried on both and no luck. I will try it again. Where can I find the 3.0 file on my mac? I downloaded some from other sites and here are their names, will any of these work? Actually after I asked if it will work , I have to tell you that these are the files I tried to jailbreak with.

iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore

iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Custom_Restore - This is the one quickpwn creates on your desktop.

Open iTunes, do a option key/click restore button combo (Both at same time) and point itunes to custom restore on desktop.

Redsn0w is very much easier, however.

. Where can I find the 3.0 file on my mac?.

Already answered !!

Just use this guide. It is very simple. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4301 If you have already upgraded in iTunes, skip the 1st part...go down to where it says launch redsn0w.

Well, I tried that link already and when I click browse on redsnow to find the ipsw file, i direct it to the

iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Custom_Restore file as it is shown on the link but it says Unable To Recognize specified IPSW. So, then I use the other one I got from somewhere which is named

iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore and it recognizes that but then gets stuck on the waiting for reboot screen.

Why am I getting UNABLE TO RECOGNIZE SPECIFIED IPSW with the custom file?

Uffffffffffffff...........

Ok I am re-downloading the file from that link, the ipsw file and will give it a shot again. The one I have is called Custom Restore, this one is called just Restore so hopefully it will work. They seem to be different sizes as well, so I am really hopeful this time.

Thanks to all

Which iPhone do you have?

Files that begin with iPhone1,1 = for original iphone (2g)
iPhone1,2 = iphone 3g (2nd gen iphone)

Make sure you are using the correct file for your device.

Well, you are not saying which app you are using, but if it is redsn0w, you are pointing it to the WRONG ipsw. It requires the Restore ipsw not the Custom Restore ipsw.

Get the restore ipsw from itunes. Use that one....

You don't have to download anything to use redsn0w but redsn0w itself. That's way I keep telling you to get the RESTORE ipsw from your Mac or whichever computer you updated your iPhone to 3.0 on.

Directions, you must read the directions....

With all due respect, if you are not able to use redsn0w, perhaps you should not be doing this..

It's all taken care of. I was using the wrong ipsw obviously.

Thanks for everyone for their help.
