Jailbreak help please

I broke my old 3G iPhone now I need to JB my new 3G (not 3G-S)....this is how I did it last time:

#1 is this the easiest way, this might be an old way?

#2 I need it for tethering this one gave me cydia

#3 Can i just backup my broken one & then use the backup for the new iPhone?

From what I have read I'm sure you can tether (haven't done that myself but search this forum for tethering 3.1.2)
