Hi Guys,

I am soon getting an iphone 3g. I am doing my research on jailbreak (JB) and wanted to learn more from you guys.

I would like to know how easy or difficult is it to jailbreak. I have never done it before and I am skeptical that I might mess something up in the process.

I also want to know if there is a place where it gives you screenshots of the steps and also tell you where you need to go to download all the components that are required to JB.

I don't know what version will the phone be, but would that matter. I hear all these things about updates and all,and it does not make much sense to me.

Lastly, what are the real advantages of JB. What apps can I download and from where once the JB is done.

I have my iphone 3g now and I think I will attemp a jailbreak. I have seen a couple of videos on youtube but I am a little confused. Do I have to download all the cydia packages in the pwnage tool. Also I have a 2.1 version of the iphone.

Also, which of these do I download pwnage or quickpwn?

I wish there was a video which shows where do I get direct links to download the tools that are also required for the jailbreak.

Is there anyway to JUST jailbreak an iphone 2g with Pwnagetool? I dont want to unlock it, just JB .

you can download any cydia packages you want after you jailbreak the phone. It is easier that way.

If you don't want to unlock your iphone in the future then go ahead and update to 2.2 through itunes and use quickpwn. If you do want to unlock your phone in the future, then use pwnage tool and upgrade to 2.2 by using pwnage tool. That will keep that baseband the older version so the dev team's unlock "yellow sn0w" will still work. You can find the firmware files easily on the internet with a simple google search. :)

what are the advantages of jailbreaking the iphone? If you are a att customer
Themes, mms, video recording, a ton of other cool features that you can't have unless you jailbreak. :D

Yes there should be an option to that ask if you are using an "official carrier" in both quickpwn and pwnage tool. By selecting yes it won't "hactivate" your phone and you can use your at&t sim card like normal.

I do want to unlock it in the future. But to do that do I have to upgrade to 2.2 or can I just JB with 2.1 FW.

It's hard to believe a regular member is asking these questions. The answer to your question is No.

So, I finally JB.
Now what are some of the best the apps that I should get.
Is there a app that I can use to hide my photo albums.
What games can I get?
