So I am thinking about jailbreaking my 3G running 3.0.1. My brother jailbroke his 1st gen iTouch and some of the features looked really cool. Is it easy to restore back to factory settings and software? What are the chances of bricking it? I am on ATT and don't plan on switching carriers, just want some cool features like winterboard and such.

Not difficult to JB, 1st, backup phone in iTunes, get Redsn0w .0.8 and use 3.0 IPSW not 3.0.1 (Get a tutorial from iClarified). Make sure to only install Cydia, not ICY.

To restore, just put it in restore mode and restore thru iTunes.

You won't brick the phone, it is mostly just an overused phrase.

If you are not gonna switch from AT&T, don't install Ultrasn0w.

Thanks. I appreciate the tips. I was reading the sticky on this forum about JB but it seemed outdated.

Definitely try it out! If you change your mind, your old setup is only a restore away. But, you won't ever want to go back.

P.S. Go Wildcats! :D
