any guesses if a jailbroken phone will be able to run official apps whenever they arrive?

Of course. Even with the SDK, people are still going to make sure that Installer.app works along side of official apps so that unlocking software can still be used.

so there is no reason not to jailbreak a phone today even though some official apps may be released tomorrow?

Jailbreak away. Even if there are problems at first, you can just restore the iPhone to unjailbreak it.

I'm definitely going to have my iPhone jailbroken and have the SDK at the same time. Just think, normal official apps as well as SSH and other wicked applications :D

Even with Installer.app the possibilities seem endless with new apps rolling out every day or so. Just think what it will be like when large companies start producing apps for the iPhone too! :D

I personally can't wait for the sdk because I know that some people will make some cool things for it but still jailbreak is the way to go.
