iPhone Jailbreak- Tether help

Hi there.

So im new to MacRumors/apple/iphone. I have an ipod touch 3rd gen but that's about it.

So before i go further... i will give you all a quick summary of my problems. SO- Verizon had grandfathered me in with UNLIMITED DATA since early this year when i got unlim. data on my family's plan. I use my phone to go on youtube, play games, facebook, twitter, etc. (teenage stuff). Last few month's i have been using a little under 10GB a month. Averaging about 9GB since March. So since my sister needs a new phone, my father is going to switch plans to the share everything plan with 8 GB a month. Since this will not be enough for me as some of my 9GB a month is party due to school work (video's, pdf's, word files, etc.) he gave me the choice between Sprint and Boost Mobile. Well Boost uses Sprint's old network so I chose Sprint because 1) UNLIMITED DATA, TEXT 2) PHONES! great selection 3)

NOW- I have the Galaxy Nexus atm. its a great phone, fast, sexy, and brilliant. I enjoy very much but I WANT AN IPHONE. So, i decided to go with IP5. BUT i then realised that IP5 is not like Android where Android has MANY app's for free tethering (with out rooting). So have been doing research in order to see if i should go with IP5 or Samsung Galaxy S3 on sprint.


So my question- Is there any idea on when an IOS6 Jailbreak will be out? I would like to get an iphone but if i cant jailbreak it to use a free tether then why should i get an iphone. Is there a app without jailbreaking IP5 to get tether? Is tether.com a good option? (I use PDANET/FOXFI atm). I want to have options so when my father is ready to switch my phone over to sprint i know what i want.

Like i said im new to apple and stuff so dont be harsh :/

This seems more of a "When will the JB be released..." question rather than a tethering question. The answer to that is that nobody knows when the JB will be ready (not even the people working on it can give an exact date until they are fully ready). If you want lots of false speculation about when it might come out, just do a quick search here on MR.com and you'll find loads of threads that have attempted to find an answer to the same question. If you have another question about tethering that I didn't answer, then you can ask it.

So timetable for JB is still up in the air is that what your saying?

Do you use tether.com? is it pretty reliable? is there any apps on the app store that you can install to get free tether?
 
No one knows when the new JB will be out.

I've heard tetherme.com is good.

Apple doesn't allow tethering apps in the app store.

My question is, how do you use 10GB/month?!?

hmm well "tetherme.com" is not a tether website haha

10GB/month was due to the online game i play (League of Legends, Diablo 3, and Happy wheels), youtube video's i watch/ upload, movies i watch on netflix, and music i listen to on pandora.

I have used 8.75 GB From Nov. 26th- Dec. 23rd (at 6:00 PM EST)

Prolly will use 9GB by the time i go to bed tonight.

I won't be surprised if Verizon automatically cuts you off the unlimited plan.

well i have been fine for 8 or so months and it does not matter if they do or not. my family plan is going to change.

have you used tether.com on your iphone?

Btw. i use my phone so much for data because i live in the middle of no where and there is no cable or any sort of wired connection for internet. so my family uses a mobile hotspot with 5GB usage a month on it.
