I decided to jailbreak my phone last night and everything is working perfectly. I downloaded a beautiful theme from Cydia called Buuf2 and it is exactly what I want except for one minor thing. My unlock screen. I want to use my own wallpaper and have the normal looking unlock slider. Right now, it is the screen/slider that came with the theme and it says "Buuf2" instead of "slide to unlock" ... this is driving me nuts, but I am a noob at the jailbreaking/themes so I was wondering how I get rid of just that aspect of the theme? Is it possible?

if you're using winterboard, checkmark the item that says user lockscreen. That shld do it!

All I have is User Lock Background. I clicked that, and it didn't work.
That's what I meant sorry. Ok make sure you drag it above your theme in winterboard. Like hold the right hand side down and drag and drop it above on the list than the name of your theme. Make sure both are checkmarked. Then restart the iPhone.
That makes my wallpaper work (which is awesome) but my slider still says "Buuf2"
You're going to have the manually edit the theme files. Download them to your computer by sFTP or an Application like PhoneView/iPhoneBrowser.
On your phone they are located:
Library > Themes
In that theme folder the file is:
Bundles > com.apple.springboard > en.lproj (or English.lproj) > SpringBoard.strings
Change the Buff 2 text to whatever you want, or just delete that file to revert back to normal.
The files that reside in either "Bundles" or "Folders" modify the OS or application files so if you just want to theme the springboard delete those folders if they are present.
There is no easier way to do it, but if you want to keep your themes current you need to get comfortable with manually adding icon files.

Okay, thank you very much. I'll try that, though it sounds a little intimidating.
Another possibility is to install a LockScreen only theme that has the type of slider you want (I've used Best Clear LockScreen and Minimal LockScreen), and in Winterboard, place it between your theme and user lock background. Make sure to check all three. Can't guarantee this will give you the effect you want, but worth trying before messing with the file system.
