Hey guys and gals, I have a quick question and hoping someone can fill me in....

I'm a 3GS user, but this is more of a general question....

So I understand the part when you go to iTunes, you select restore and not update, and that it's in my favour to have my ECID SHSH on file with Cydia and to adjust my host/etc to direct to Sauriks server....but I'm wondering how to point iTunes to select the custom made ipsw and not the Apple version????

Every time I've done it in the past, I've always put the Apple ipsw version and then used redsn0w (Windows)

Can some generous person in the know enlighten me and the rest of the people who just want to hear it in laymens term.

Thanking you and all in advance!

Cheers,

James

You point to a specific one by holding down Option/Alt and clicking restore. Then you browse to the ipsw you want.

And what would I be pressing if I use Windows?

So after I press "x" and "y" and hold restore to point to the custom ipsw...then I would use the new redsn0w (when released) to jailbreak?

Or once I'm finished installing the custom ipsw...would that automatically make me jailbroken already??

Thanks again
