I got a iPhone 3GS today and want to sale the other one on eBay. I was going to prepare it by deleting my info, jailbreak, tether option, ect and put it up for sale.

I have downloaded and ran PwnageTool for 3.0, completed the process, and did the restore in iTunes. But I think it just restored to a non-jailbroken restore file?

Then is starts to sync and put my contacts, app, ect back on.

So where am I going wrong? I don't want any of my settings or files back on here. Just blank it out, jailbrake, sale.

Thank you!

So, with PwnageTool you've created a custom firmware for the iPhone 3G 3.0 OS (or 2G, if that's the case)? Then you should go into iTunes and hold Option, then click restore. Browse to your custom firmware and restore your iPhone to it, and when it prompts you, set the iPhone up as a new one. If you don't, it'll start restoring all your old information.

Alternatively, you could try flashing the custom firmware to the iPhone through PwnageTool, but I'm not quite sure if they have that working in the current release yet.

Make sure you're not making any silly mistakes, and it should work.

No....I didn't know about the holding Option, ect. I guess that answers it LOL. Thank you!

OK - I have done the Hold Option + Restore > Selected the Restore file put on my desktop. iTunes does its things for 10 minutes then comes up with this error:

The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (Error 1604).

Now I can't get the iPhone past the Apple icon at start up.

Now I'm really stuck.....any ideas????
