jailbreak with blackra1n not working, ideas?

Im ussually pretty handy with working with computer and software, but this is driving me bonkers.

iphone 3g 8GB

latest updates and carrier settings ( 3.1.2)

trying to JB via blackra1n, but does not work, it keeps hanging up on the " connect to itunes " screen, and nothing happens.

Thoughts?

think i got it, it wasnt working on osx so i logged into windows xp via bootcamp, downloaded the blackrain for windows and the install worked just fine.
