jailbreak with Pwnage and no signal?

Hey guys,

Bit of a doozie here. Ive jailbroken my 3G iphone on two different macs in the house with the latest Pwnage tool and thats fine it does the jailbreak and installs Cydia and Installer but i cant get signal from then on? I cant figure out what wrong. Has anybody else had that trouble and come up with a solution.
The sim im using is an O2 Ireland sim which is the default sim it should work with.

Ive used different macs and the latest pwnage tool on both machines and have done everything right i think.

Any suggestions? The iphone is a brand new one with factory settings of 2.2.1 Firmware 02.30.03 and Baseband 5.09

Um..If you are a legit customer to whatever company your phone came locked with, then make sure NOT to press activate in pwnagetool when making your custom firmware because that won't let you use your sim card. I am with ATT and I pressed activate, and it didn't give me ANY signal and it said no network in settings. Lol that's it I geuss :/.
