Could someone pleeeaaassseee describe to in detail (step by step) how I may jailbreak (not tethered unlock) my iphone 3GS version 3.1.2 (7D11)? I've attempted to do it via pwnage tool, but the ipsw file that pwnage creates is not recognizable to the phone? Perhaps I missed a step during the process.

Thank You

Can't do it any longer for firmware 3.1.2 as Apple quit signing those IPSW's

Unless you were previously jailbroken and saved SHSH in Cydia, you are out of luck.

I don't think thats true. I just jailbroke mine yesterday and it went fine. I got pwnage tool 3.1.4 and the ipsw from iphonedownloadblog and then it all went smooth.

When u click or option-click on the restore button on Itunes, it will go out to Apples server and check to see if okay to allow u restore on 3.1.2 or not.

Applejuiced is right, on the 3GS is when it happens.

Your signature says 3G phone

We are talking about 3GS. Please read the posts !

Whole different ballgame. A 3G can be upgraded or downgraded to ANY version of firmware.

And only 3GS uses signed IPSW's
