Im guessing this has been posted before but im on my phone and dont want to search since i have the original iphone and am using edge.

Okay as previously stated i have the original iphone on edge. i jailbroke before 2.0 but would like to do so again. can someone give me a link or tell me how to do it. If you could be pretty specific on instructions as im not the most tech savy person. (please dont say go to google>type jailbreak 2.0 ive tried that.

thanks,

Pwnage is the ONLY way to jailbreak firmware 2.0.

Ziphone and other methods were able to work because of a security "hole" which Apple fixed in the 2.0 update.

Pwnage is a hardware hack and can NOT be fixed by Apple on either the old or new iPhone.

I wrote a tutorial and FAQ that was stickied and is below so have a look!

I just tried to get the pwnage files from the dev team website but it says "This repo is too large to generate a zip. Please file a bug report."
is there another place i can get those files?

Thanks

sadly there isn't a '60 second solution' to jailbreaking this time around. . .and I don't see that for the future either

Commercial jailbreak solutions?

Hi Guys,
I've seen companies on the net offering painless, simple jailbreaking for version 2 software for around $29. Are these not legit then? I'd pay if I knew I had a simple, guanranteed option?

Why pay when you can do it for free? If you think Pwnage is painful, then sure... waste your money... Truth is they're probably using Pwnage too.

I'm thinking about jailbreaking my 3g iphone

couple of questions

1. the 1 year warranty is gone once you jailbreak, unless I do a backup of it before I would send it to apple to fix any problems correct?

-so what exactly does that mean and how do I do that? Would I just sync it right now so it backs up, then jailbreak it, then good to go?

2. if you jailbreak it, then can you never sync it back up with itunes? unless you want to un-jailbreak it?

3.My biggest reason for jailbreaking it is to have tethering capabilities, but couldn't at&t realize what you are doing? Won't they see this huge increase in data usage and ponder?

4.I've read some reasons why people jailbreak, and one post said that you can get mms through an app, is that right?

Your wrong about so many things there...

First of all strictly speaking you do void your warranty jailbreaking BUT its only a minor software change that can be fully reversed by a RESTORE.

You DO NOT WANT to restore from a backup because if you do then you will put the jailbreaked files BACK onto the iPhone.

You simply restore in itunes and set the phone up as new.

As for AT&T noticing - who knows - don't use more data than before! it depends on how much attention they are paying.

MMS apps are pretty bad if I am honest and don't work very well so I would forget about that.

No!

You have to wait for pwnagetool to be updated to 2.0.1.

Should be in the next few days then you can jailbreak by restoring to a custom 2.0.1 firmware you made using pwnage.
