i've tried everything, followed the iclarified tutorial to a T. i've shift+restore in itunes and restored my phone to a custom 3.0 FW ipsw. then i ran redsn0w and followed every direction, and after i click finish, my phone shuts off, but doesn't reboot back up, so i turn it on and i am still at the no sim enter a valid sim to activate this phone screen. i've restored and ran redsn0w 3 times. can someone with patience please help me?

i don't know if this is normal or not but while my phone is in the no sim card installed screen, the background is the usb-itunes dfu screen? can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

1. Delete any custom ipsw files you have created, you don't need them.

2. DFU restore your phone to 3.0 via itunes automatic restore (don't use custom ipsw). After install, don't restore previous back-up (start fresh).

3. Now use redsnow and the ipsw that iTunes automatically downloaded. Follow the redsnow instructions.

Should be good to go after that.

Which iPhone are you doing this on? What OS are you using? What version iTunes are you using?

We'll need a little more info to better help you out. :)

Oh, well your going to have to use ultrasnow. Don't follow my instructions posted earlier. Use a gude to ultrasnow.

wait eezing...i still have to jailbreak/hacktivate my phone first before i can download ultrasn0w from cydia. i put my phone in DFU mode and restored it via itunes. now to run redsn0w, i need to choose a ipsw... do i choose the custom one? cuz i cant find the one that itunes downloaded. pleas help iphone is my only phone and it is now locked.

on the 30 second countdown after releasing the power button but still holding the home button, i usually let go of the home button once redsn0w says your phone is now jailbreaking, even tho the countdown only got to 20 seconds. i do not believe that this is the problem, as i believe redsn0w has determined my phone is in DFU mode already, right?
