hey everyone,
I've done the searching and stuff regarding jailbreaking... but couldn't find an answer to a few of my questions..
I have an Iphone 3G which is on the new 3.1.3 (7E18) and the 05.12.01 firmware. I have NEVER EVER jailbroken my phone before... and now i'm thinking.. why not. Anyway... i'm am on a Rogers network (in Canada) and was wondering... does it matter that I'm not on AT&T?
I do not want to unlock the phone... i just need to jailbreak it. If i jailbreak my phone.. will I not be able to connect to the Rogers carrier?

Also... in case something goes horribly wrong during the process.. what should i do? I read in the stickies i can restore it to factory settings... so should i backup my phone before jailbreaking? Do i need to be concerned about this ShSh thing (no idea what this is).
I just don't want to brick my phone.. which is why i never considered doing this.. so is it possible to get it back to the way it is now (pre-jailbreak) in case something goes wrong?

THANKS!!

(i'll be using the REDSNOW program.... is that a good one?)

First of all, use the search option that is built into the forum. Or, www.google.com is your best friend. Your questions have been asked over and over again. Anyways, I'll try to help you out anyways (Im in a good mood lol)

First of all, it doesn't matter what carrier your on if you are planning to stick with your carrier. I just got my iPhone from Fido about 3 months ago and the salesman even had his phone jailbroken. If something screws up you can always revert back to original state. You dont have to worry about "bricking" your phone!!
Secondly, do a back up with iTunes. After you jailbreak your phone successfully you can restore from your backup. This will bring back your contacts, email settings, etc.
As far as redsnow is concerned, you will have to do some research. I have a 3gs so I did a different method. You are going to have to downgrade to 3.1.2 (someone correct me if Im wrong here). Anyways, browse around here, google, and you will get your answers.
Good luck!
