Hey all, I jailbroke devices when jailbreaking was fairly new, but decided to go with android for phones until recently when I bought the iPhone 5. Is Jailbreaking as easy as running a program and then using Cydia from then on or is it a little more or alot more complicated?

Also, what do you recommend I do first with my newly JB'd phone when the jailbreak is released?

Yes.

Check the 5000 other threads posted today regarding what to install.

Its not as simple and you should be carefull what you install from Cydia. Research, learn the basics and read the information on the package before you install. Most of them will say what firmware version they're tested and compatible with.
Not all packages will be updated to work with your particular device or firmware version.
So if you install something that's not compatible or doesnt run right with the new JB then you might get stuck on a boot loop.
There will be threads and sites posted with what packages work, dont work or already got updated to work with 6.1
