Jailbreaking and lost

I'm new to jailbreaking and am trying to figure it out.

I've been working on it for the past hour searching here + google and I've read a bunch of threads about it but I am just stuck.

I'm sorry for creating another thread destined for the wasteland but I held out as long as I could.

I just started up redsn0w and can't ipsw for 3.0.1 anywhere on my computer neither anywhere to download it online, not on apple.com or a link on here.

Please help!

also should I do all this with my phone off?

start here. Make sure you point itunes towards the 3.0 ipsw when you jailbreak.

Read the link IBradMac gave starting at post #10. You sound like you're confused about which ipsw to use, which is understandable. It is kind of confusing.

You should've already got 3.0.1 on your iPhone several days ago, so now you'll be jailbreaking with the OS 3.0 ipsw.

Follow all the steps (you will eventually turn your phone off, in answer to your question), and you should be JB (just in time to do it again for 3.1, if you want to). Just follow the steps.

Hey OP, I sent you a PM, regarding the JB. But from the looks of your fellow JB members, you should be good to go. iClarified has been awesome with redsn0w and Purplera1n, (when it was working pre-FW 3.0.1)... Good Luck
