First time jailbreaker here on an iPhone 4s. I've generally enjoyed the experience so far and found some things I would truly miss if jailbreaking went away. However I have noticed that the jailbreaking process appears to have broken a few of my other apps. I haven't tested every app on my phone but an app called "Jam" no longer functions. This is an app that you sing into and then it matches background music (from several available styles) to your voice. It loads up and everything but when you try to actually record something you get the equivalent of a spinning beach ball and have to hard reboot to get out of it. The other app in question is my cable providers (Brighthouse Networks) live TV app. This app allows you to stream live TV channels, based on your TV package, to your mobile devices as long as you're on your own local network. This one only makes it to the startup screen with the logo where it flashes briefly and then quits. It works fine on my iPad which is not jailbroken.

Fortunately neither of these apps are vital but I think it's safe to assume the jailbreak is what's responsible for them no longer working. So I'm wondering if this is common? And if so does the jailbreak process typically only affect a small number of apps or can it be worse than that sometime?

I'm only going to start getting concerned about it if it starts to affect an app I actually use. Until then it's a very minor annoyance at most.

Apps not loading might be due to some package you have installed from Cydia. Word of advice though, if you get that tv app to load but it has a jailbreak detection software included in the app, you could try using a tweak called xCon which prevents apps like that from detecting the jailbreak.

I suppose I meant everything that comes with the jailbreak (Cydia apps and tweaks) and not the jailbreak itself. Either way I'll check out that app you mentioned and if that doesn't work I'll see if I can nail down which Cydia app or tweak is causing the problem. Thanks for your suggestions.

The apps you are talking about likely have jailbreak detection built into the app.
This is common with these, I use the DirecTV app which has the jailbreak detection built in.
I have to use xCon to use the app.

Any time my friend! Let me know if that xCon package solves your problems.

I have had a similar problem. Back on iOS 5.1.1, a few apps didn't work. I updated to iOS 6, jailbroke, and tested them again. They worked... For a while.

A few tweaks later I tested them again and boom crash. I have no idea what tweak it is, but it's annoying.

Well i actually use sky go (tv streaming app from sky tv) and the mentioned app doesn't help at all. Any idea what to do to avoid jailbreak detection?

Well what do you know… It actually did solve the problem with both of the apps I mentioned above! That's awesome! Thanks so much! :)

Hey no problem! Can I give you another word of advice? Whenever those apps are updated in the App Store, stop and do some googling or asking around whether or not the update breaks xCon. Otherwise what could happen is you'll update the app and xCon will no longer work. Therefore you'll have to wait for xCon to be updated to work with the new app. So unless there are new features you absolutely must have, just wait a little but and get onfirmation that xCon still works. Makes sense?

Okay thanks for the advice!
