I understand some of the benefits of jailbreaking my new 3g, however what are some of the potential ramifications or drawbacks of a jailbreak?

Possible bricking of phone.

Apple's refusal to provide technical support and service (while it's jailbroken, if you restore you should be fine).

Two biggest drawbacks, imho.

Now I am getting a bit paranoid. The only reason I would consider jailbreaking is to tether the iphone to my laptop.

Everyday there are newbie(s) that mess up the process.

If you are asking this question, you don't know enough to perform the process.

I would wait awhile for tethering info to be tested.

Apple software updates (2.0.1, etc.) will be a much more complex process, possibly not readily available until some days after the upgrade is released, possibly breaking more jailbreak apps than App store apps in the process.

#1 biggest drawback to jailbreaking now? Almost no apps available for 2.0, so far.
