Hey guys, I'm extremely new to this whole jailbreaking concept, so please go gentle! lol

Firstly I'm using windows XP.

I'm hoping someone knows of a link they could provide me that will give step by step directions on how to do this.

If anyone has a link for a video that would be even better.

Thanking you all in advance!

Here is the website of the people who jailbroke the iphone/ipod touch. All the info you need is here. Download quickpwn (windows version) and update your iphone to 2.2.1 in itunes and run quickpwn. The instructions inside quickpwn are very easy, it even does the button timing for the dfu mode and everything. It's almost fool proof.

I'm the guy who originally posted this tread.

Thanks to all who helped out, but now I've run into a new set of problems.

This morning I attempted to jailbreak using the link provided. Quickpawn gave a message everything went well. It said to wait a minute while the phone reboots.

I've waited and waited and all that is on the screen is the apple logo.

every few minutes the phone will vibrate...but that's it, that's all.

So where do i go from here? Please advise.

Thanks again,

James

Try holding down the power and the home button until the phone restarts, and hopefully it will boot. If not, I suggest trying the jailbreak again.

I've tried holding down home and power and it doesn't seem to work.

I've also tried to jailbreak again and again...and still the same issue.

Any ideas?

Hmm... So, you're using QuickPwn 2.2.5-2 for Windows with an iPhone on 2.2.1, but when it reboots it just stays on the logo?

You've tried holding the sleep/wake to turn it off, what about just holding the sleep/wake? That's solved my problems sometimes.

You don't have LOADS of apps/music and stuff on the phone do you?

I run into a similar situation while trying to update and jailbreak an iPod Touch. I ended up restoring the Touch, then running quickpwn, and it worked. I can't tell from the OP's posts whether he's tried restoring before trying to jailbreak again, but if not, I'd try that.

First off let me just say thank you to everyone who's helped thus far!

Secondly to clarify, yes I have tried restoring from back up and from new iphone.

I've tried holding home/on:eek:ff.....

When I try to just hold on:eek:ff nothing happens. It's almost like it won't shut off and turn back on unless I hold the home button also.

I'm almost ready to give up, But i really, really want copy/paste, video recorder and the turn by turn.

Please anyone else have any answers or tips?????

Again thanking you all in advance!

James

Hmmm... Did you try running quickpwn with iTunes off? Make sure it's completely shut down, not running minimized in the background.

Also, the instructions for running quickpwn for 2.2.1 is the same as for the earlier 2.x versions. There hasn't been any real change in the steps.

My friend and I ran into the same exact problem when trying to jailbreak his phone with quickpwn. After 2 unsuccessful attempts I suggested to him to restore the phone and reinstall his backup. After that I told him to uncheck all his apps and sync the phone. After that we jailbroke it with no apps installed and it worked without a hitch. Once it was jailbroken we just re-snyced the apps back onto the phone.
