Apple TV Jailbreaking newbie question?

My brother has just bought an AppleTV2, and he wants to Jailbreak it to run Plex and or XBMC.

Could someone point me in the direction of the latest documentation of how to do this?

The links I seem to find are all over 2 years old.

Cool. My brother has tried with Season Pass but he keeps getting errors when iTunes tries to do the restore (1600, 1601, 1611 etc). Any idea why?

16xx error are usually due to the device not being on DFU mode, it is a bit tricky to put the Appletv on DFU (sometime the button on the remote slip). Make sure you are on DFU more before restoring.

Step 4:When prompted, connect your Apple TV using a micro-USB cable (leave power disconnected).

Once the light on the front of the AppleTV begins to flash rapidly, point the remote at the AppleTV and hold both the MENU and PLAY/PAUSE buttons for 7 seven seconds.

Note: This step will require the silver (aluminum) AppleTV remote that was included with the ATV2. The older, white (plastic) remotes will not work.
