Is there a way to jb my phone and keep the app data. Also if I want to update after a jailbreak and then jailbreak again is there a way to get the app data back on. I wish apple would come up with another way to backup app data. I have a 3gs on 3.1 and am using vista.

no one knows? What if I restore from backup after the jailbreak. What happens?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS (White, 32GB): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7C144 Safari/528.16)

You can simply restore in iTunes to get app data back or use SSH to manually replace/insert app data for certain apps. Very simple.

so I do the entire jailbreak process and then restore from backup after the jailbreak is complete. What about if I want to go back to no jailbreak can I restore the phone and then restore it again from jailbroken phone's back up.

Yes.

However there's one huge caveat, you cannot jailbreak 3.1 on a 3GS yet. You can't downgrade the firmware either unless you previously saved your iBES and iBCC files or cached your ECID in Cydia.

Im aware there is no 3gs jailbreak yet, I'm just getting ready for it. I wan't to jailbreak but don't want to lose all my app data. I jailbroke my 2g but never restored it from backup so I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to brick my phone.
Thanks guys
