Hello,

I have iPhone 4s. I am not sure about whether I updated my iphone to iOS 7.0.4 by OTA or iTunes. I cant remember. I have many smartphones that I keep testing for my blog.

I made the classic mistake of jailbreaking my device without restoring it via iTunes to make sure I am clean which I should have done cause I dont remember.

Fortunately everything is working fine and I was able to download and install few cydia apps on my phone.

Now my question is should I just continue using my phone or should I restore via iTunes and jailbreak again the right way ? I read there is a SHSH blobs issue.

Or is it simply impossible to jailbreak if you have updated via OTA? Which means I must have updated via iTunes only?

Thank you.

I jailbroke both my phones OTA, the only issue with Jailbreaking OTA devices is that the jailbreak might fail and you will need to restore. So you're good.

i am new to iPhone, and if i remember correctly, i updated my 5s to 7.0.4 via OTA when i first got it. i recently jailbroke it and all seems well.

is it better in general for jaibreaking purposes to update via iTunes?

yes, it is general practice to restore via itunes to update before jailbreaking
