Jailbroken 2g update problem

I have a jailbroken 2g with 1.1.4 and I'm trying to update to 2.1 . I used the pawnage tool and did everything right but when I go into itunes to update it I get an error message. Now I'm lucky cause my iphone goes to a white screen and freezes but when I turn it off and back on it still works but with the old firmware. I've been thinking of trying the quickpawn has anyone used that?

I don't know the error message exactly right now but I'll update the thread when I get home to tell you. but if anyone knows what to do I greatly appreciate it. thanks.

EDIT okay so the error I got the first time was "unkown error 2001" then I unpluged it and plugged it back in this time with no sim card and got error 2 and the pineapple with the bite out of shows up
 
yeah I tried restoring and I tried going back to 1.1.4 with ziphone but still no luck now I've downloaded itunes 7 again as well and also no luck. If I try to restore in itunes 7 it says "software for this iphone is not currently available make sure you have the latest version of itunes and try again" please if anyone can help I would love it. I'm currently phone less.

EDIT Ok just tried to update to 2.1 on my iphone and I got an unknown error 9 now
EDIT alright tried it again and it worked this time. thanks for the help.
