I got my iPhone back in July and immediately jailbroke and unlocked it (Can't remember the program) and firmware 3.0. I have not updated it since. I want to know what the easiest way to update it to 3.1.2. I don't want to have to loose any of my info (apps, numbers, pics, music, etc.) since the computer they were all synced to is in a box in storage right now. I NEED to be able to unlock it seeing as how I don't use AT&T (I'm on Cincinnati Bell).

My phone stats are as follows:
Model: MA712LL
Firmware:3.0 (7A341)
Baseband: 04.05.04_G

I'd appreciate any help.

Oh and I am using OS X right now but it was originally unlocked using Windows XP. Not sure if that matters or not.

Can't be done. If you want to update to 3.1.2, you will need to install new firmware, then sync back your stuff.

Damn. Well can I still use iTunes to back up my info even though my phone is synced to a different computer? If not what is the best way of backing up al my info without screwing anything up? (i.e. custom ringtones, themes, SMS tones, cydia apps, etc.)

SMS doesn't sync but can be replaced if "restore to backup" (but set up as new is best choice for trouble free jailbreak)
Cydia apps/themes I suggest PkgBackup. $3.49 and works perfectly. Well worth the skins.

Ok. I made a backup usin iTunes (for my contacts, app store apps, SMS messages, etc.), Pkgbackup for my cydia apps and themes, and manually backed up my SMS tones and ringtones (ringtones folder just in case since I have a tone of custom tones that arn't picked up by iTunes that I installed manually). Any way to backup my installous apps? Not too big of a deal since I don't have too many of them. I can always redownload them.

Cracked apps are off limits here

We all pay for our apps !

No help there then lol. No biggie. Any thing else I need to know before I do this? I am going to use pwnage tool 3.1.5 for OS X to build the firmware and then use that firmware to restore my iPhone VIA iTunes by alt clicking the restore button. Correct? I have the firmware already built and I unchecked the option to update the baseband so I shouldn't have to worry about unlocking it after right? And I heard something about the newest updates requires you hook up your phone to your computer in order to turn it on if it ever gets turned off or needs rebooting?

As far as appstore apps go, just hit "transfer purchases" and all of your apps, cracked or not, should transfer to itunes and then sync back. As was already mentioned, PkgBackup is great for JB apps.

You have to sync your contacts for PkgBackup to work if I'm not mistaken. Honestly I would upgrade to 3.1.3 official, and then jailbreak it with redsn0w. If you do that, after restoring from package backup, all your JB apps and their respective settings will be maintained. You won't lose any apple apps that were installed.
