Can't seem to find anyone with the same problem, been trawling the net for a few hours. A little info or any advice would be much obliged.

Ok, iPhone screen went all green one night, with horizontal thin white lines, unequally spaced running down the right side of the screen. Want to take it into Apple to get fixed but is it possible for me to restore the phone without being able to see the screen? Also, to pour salt into the wound, my macbook HDD **** itself a few days after, tried data recovery (disk warrior) even the freezer trick, all I get is a horrible grinding noise, so it's safe to say i've lost everything on the drive. Apple replaced the drive as I was still under AppleCare. But, unfortunately, my restore image for my iphone (when I originally did the jailbreak, i remember it created a restore image of my iphone) is on the fried HDD. I was considering going to a professional data recovery service. But before I spend all that money, I have one last question. When I jailbroke my iphone, I forgot to extract an important document that I had saved in the notepad iphone app thingy. Stupidly, I lost it when I ran the jailbreak software as it formatted the iPhone. So, will my restore image have that notepad file included? Thanks in advance, Luke.

Nope, the video electronics are dead on it (I'd the same thing happen but with a white screen of death). NO restore/backup/reset/button resets will change it. Unfortunately, as your MacBook has died too that's the end of your existing data.

LESSON LEARNED: Backup your Users > name > iTunes folder onto another drive/USB key often!

As for your physical iPhone, just take it back to a Genius Bar (you'll probably need to phone for an appointment first unless you blag it near closing time) at your local AppleStore with your cell/mobile account details and they'll probably just replace it on the spot for you.

Urgent, more advice needed.

Very grateful for your help, just have a few more questions. Great adivce too. I learnt that valuable lesson the hard way, always back up your HDD, i never thought it would happen to me. Worst, APPLE, the bastards, refused to give me back my old HDD when they replaced it, upon pick up i learnt that when I signed on that dotted line a few days earlier they forgot to explain the clause stating that the fried HDD is their property. A few abusive calls and thankfully I got it back. So,

regarding the restore image on my fried HDD, created before I jailbroke, if I manage to get it off with professional help, will the image contain those notes I saved in notepad and just curious, also my old phonebook? Very curious. Please shed light if you can, I used the software with the pineapple logo, forget the name.

Also, if I do take it back, and they don't replace it on the spot, and they go deeper for further repairs, will my warranty be void because it is jailbroken?

Thanks, Luke.

Not sure about the first question,

but:
Also, if I do take it back, and they don't replace it on the spot, and they go deeper for further repairs, will my warranty be void because it is jailbroken?

Yes, technically. But they should just replace it on the spot.
