Jailbroken / Unlocked 2.2.1 and Visual Voicemail

I just unlocked my phone today (it was previously jailbroken). I am using an iPhone 3G with firmware 2.2.1. I downgraded the baseband, and the unlock worked EXCEPT using my everyday SIM card (associated with a carrier and plan that has visual voicemail) my visual voicemail is no longer working. My question is: by unlocking using yellowsn0w, can I no longer use visual voicemail or did something go wrong?
