Jailbroken / Unlocked 3GS not working with iMessage

Hey

I used sn0wbreeze, redsn0w and ultrasn0w yesterday to update, jailbreak and unlock iOS 5.
The only problem I seem to be having is that when I go to Settings > Messages, iMessage says 'waiting for activation...'

I have read that other users have been getting this problem so it could be something at Apple's end but at the same time I haven't seen anyone saying they have this problem post-jailbreak

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be appreciated, really want to check iMessage out.
