maya said:I have never really understood how people here can wait for weeks if not months for a computer. It personally would drive me mad if I were to pay and still wait for a computer that I would like to use.
Bern said:I'd hazard a guess the long wait time is due to the Christmas season and New Year period.

That is typical ship date slip from Apple when they are pre-announcing products that aren't being made yet.Xaveman said:Xephain
I did. But 6 to 8 weeks is not Jan 19th!! considering my original ship date was nov 18th. Thanks for the support guys just felt like venting.
fklehman said:A similar thing is happening to me...I just bought a BTO PowerBook 15" (I got the 7200rpm hard drive), and my original ship date of November 18 got pushed back to November 29. What's up with that? The hard drive and ram is the only thing you can even do BTO on these PowerBooks, so it's not even as complicated as all the GPUs etc. you can customize a PowerMac with. But here I am waiting longer. At this point though, it seems that the previous poster may be right about the overestimation of shipping dates; I called Apple this morning to ask why the delay, and the rep told me that my order was actually being prepared to ship right now and would be going out in 12-24 hours. We'll see--god knows I'll be keeping tabs on it and will call again to be a "squeaky wheel" if it hasn't shipped in that timeframe. The only excuse I will accept is if Apple is delaying a lttle while to fix minor PB problems.
buryyourbrideau said:dont worry my friend. apple's shipping page and whatnot isnt always the best at keeping up to date. when my video iPod arrived at my door, it still said preparing to ship on that specific page on the site.

risc said:Why? This is no different to any other Power Mac launch, there have always been massive delays with the Power Mac G5 (BTO) top of the range machines. Shiet I had to wait 2 months for my Power Mac G5 to turn up when I ordered, it's Apple welcome to the Apple way of doing stuff!

Put it this way a small company can deliver better quality because it can give more attention to its products. A big company has to meet a big demand in a short time so it cares less about quality and more about quantity. So
If you want more quality you will have to wait for it
rather apple give longer wait times and have quality than have shorter wait times and almost no quality (like dell)
I hate saying the word "dell"
