I'm looking for some advice on this subject.
After updating to 7 version 45 the older version 40 is still installed on my Mac.
It can be seen under system / installed third part programs.
I have searched for methods to delete the old version but without success.
I use the web plugin for netbanking.

You are confusing two, different things.

Go here to test and I suspect you will see you are running v45 of the web plugin. That Java pref pane in System Prefs only update the web plugin.

That version 40 you are seeing is not the web plugin but the Java runtime used to run local Java apps. You don't need to be concerned about it.

Thank you "Weaselboy".

Yes I know I'm using / running Java 7 version 45 and thats o.k.

My concern was the list of installed programs - foto attached.
It seems as if the old Java 7 version 40 is still there.
Perhaps it's just a list of all download activities regardless if they are still there. Example: I have downloaded "CSR Racing" - deleted it again. It also appear on the list.
Is there a way to update this download log.

Ah gotcha... that log is actually a history of everything you have ever installed, not what is now installed, so you are fine.

Here is the same log from my system.
