Trying to access a usual website that requires Java, I was unable to do so. I downloaded a version of Java, and yet I still can't access the site. Any advice on this, please?

Actually, it didn't. Am I missing a step after the download?

Browser plugins are disabled by default. Safari preferences → ‘Security’ → ‘Internet plug-ins’.

Java is enabled, but this particular site (it's the Wall Street Journal crossword) still isn't working for me.

Have you whitelisted it? Have you checked on Oracle’s website whether the plugin works?

If that means have I pasted the URL in the list, yes, I have. But it's not making an exception for it.
