Any other developers notice how much Javascript sucks on the iPad? I'm pretty sure this stuff is running just as bad as Flash would if it were on the iPad.

I tried running a few Javascript games from Effect Games. They work very well on my iMac but would hardly run at all on an iPad. I realize there is a huge cpu difference there but I thought Javascript would have been a good alternative to Flash for the iPad. It now seems to me that outside of a few CSS3 features and the video and audio tag in HTML5 that the iPad is not going to benefit from HTML5 as much as I thought.

If other web developers start creating animated ads with Javascript is it going to bring the iPad to it's knees?

If this really is the case then I see more then just Flash being dead but the whole concept of browser based games or interactive cartoons.

Just curious what other iPad users experience has been with sites with a lot of Javascript. I'm working on alternative options for our company and have been doing a lot of research and development work trying to use Javascript to recreate some of our Flash based material to support iDevices. So far I have not had the best results.

I'm a web developer, and yes, JavaScript animations suck on the iPad.
By the way, the fact is simple: CSS3 are hardware accelerated, while JavaScript is not.

CSS3 are the future of web animations. Javascript for events + CSS3 for animations.
