Hi,

my iPhone4 is currently jailbroken on ios5. Is it possible to upgrade it to ios6 and then jailbreak it? How would one go about this?

Many thanks!

How could I save ios6 shsh if I'm still on ios5?

You can save blobs for versions you're not on, but only when Apple is signing them. At the moment, iOS 6 isn't being signed and most likely won't ever be again. iOS 7.0.4 is being signed

Check using cydia or iFaith to see if cydia has any complete blobs for you

I checked with both Cydia and iFaith and the only available blobs for me are those below ios6.0. There's a "Where's my ios 6.0" link in Cydia TSS center that leads to a lenghty writeup by Saurik on why the ios6 blobs were not saved but I'd be lying if I said I wanted to read through all of that to understand why. :)

So I guess I will just stay jailbroken on ios5, no big deal.

This is precisely the reason you got left behind by technology.

Would it tell me how to retrieve my ios6 blobs? I don't think it would, so no point for me to dig into this.

But if you promise reading this article will bring me up to speed with "technology" then I may reserve one long winter evening to reading it, alright. :p

It might prevent you of making a similar mistake such as not upgrading to 7.04 or at least saving 7.04 blobs so at least you have a choice next time....

Not sure what you're implying but I'd never want to have ios7 on my device.
