Just JB my Original 2G iPhone using redsn0w and that went easy. I installed only Cydia when prompted and that worked fine. I then rebooted and attempted to Unlock my iPhone following Gizmodo's directions and used the repo666 file they told me to add to the Cydia Source List.

It unlocked but then gave me the Searching... error then No Service. I tried popping out my SIM and rebooting as well as some Airplane Mode + SIM removal trick from YouTube...no dice.

So, I just restored my phone back to 3.0 with iTunes.

Anyone know where I goofed on the Unlock? Should I have NOT used the repo666 package??

Big no-no. UltraSn0w is not for the 1st Gen iPhone (2G iPhone). What you need to do is Restore the whole phone (you screwed up the baseband, so you have to go back to square one).

After that, re-jailbreak with RedSn0w and then download the application from Cydia called BootNeuter Use that to unlock your 2G iPhone.

Also, you might want to catch up on some reading from this thread. It has the latest and most up-to-date information around; also carries information and background on your unlocking/jailbreaking applications.

Well...got it JB'd but can't get the Unlock to work. I have the BootNeuter app via Cydia, but everytime I run it, it hangs towards the end. I end up rebooting my phone and of course the Unlock didnt work.

Any ideas? BootNeuter seems to hang when it say "detecting settings..."

Frustrating!
