Honestly, any retailer that is anti-technology and tends to go backwards by thinking that their proprietary technology will prevail can go to...well, you fill in the rest. I get that new technologies require testing, planning, and implementation, so I'm not expecting everyone to have it working, but for places to turn off working NFC in hopes of other stuff, and a struggling company, no less? It looks like it was intentional:
