There aren't any unused fan headers on a cMP 4,1 or 5,1 board . There are three headers on the bottom which control the speaker , air intake fan and exhaust fan . There is the je103 mounting point for ... something Apple never used . Install the board and examine that point with a multimeter to determine if the circuit is live .

It clearly says Fan:

If I can find one of those connectors+cables I may install it.

And what happens if there are no traces ( active or otherwise ) connected to the mounting holes , deep inside all those layers of fiberglass ? Take your Fluke to it first before you go through the trouble of attaching a header . Also , assuming a fan can be attached and run from it , do you suppose Apple would have provided some method of control for it in SMC ? That fan might simply spin up to max RPMs and stay there . It'll get real loud !

there are other ways to control if there is power of course. Even a small board with a potentiometer will do. That would have been a great connector for a fan for the diode.

wanted to measure, but you would have to solder the cables, because you can't do that when the CPU tray is connected to the backplane

That looks very similar to an open air Mac Pro 1,1 I once had mounted on a thick maple plywood board many years ago . That was when I tested individual used Xeons after purchase , before I realized almost every one worked anyways .
