Hey everyone, maybe this isn’t a big deal, but I recently updated my iPad mini 6 to iPadOS 18, and I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I think the jelly scrolling issue seems to have improved.

We know that jelly scrolling is technically a hardware thing, but after the update, I noticed that while reading eBooks or browsing the web, the effect didn’t seem as obvious when I scrolled through pages. Has anyone else noticed this?

To be honest, the jelly scrolling never really bothered me—sometimes I even found it kinda funny. It never actually caused me any real trouble. But after the update, I tried scrolling quickly up and down on purpose, and the effect, which used to be pretty noticeable, seems way less pronounced now. Or maybe it’s just my imagination? Has anyone else experienced the same?

Not updated mine yet, but one less reason to upgrade if it is! Assuming it is fixed on the Mini 7 - I wonder when the review units hit and we will find out!

I don't notice any improvement personally. Speaking of jelly scroll being funny, when I want to mess with my wife I will show it to her. She says it makes her feel motion sick. Can't do it too often but every so often I say, look at this article then swipe the screen up and down. Entertains me but I digress. I will focus a bit more to see if maybe it's improved. I have learned to look past most of it after 3 years but I still see it and wish I didn't.

I just tested it again carefully and noticed that the jelly is more obvious when I scroll slowly, but when I scroll faster, it’s not as noticeable. Honestly, I almost forgot what it looked like before, so I started wondering if it was just my imagination. But to be honest, the jelly doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, after using it for a while, I kinda find it fun.

Kept my Mini 6 on iPadOS 15.5 and it is noticeable with the brief time I spent with it, but not a deterrent for me getting the Mini 7.

Upgraded to ipadOS18 and now I would call it the "peanut butter & jelly" screen. ;)

And a few times last night in was "Fried PB&J & Bananas" screen. ;)

Sorry OP: apparently the jelly issue is driven by hardware not software. But all such things are eye & perception of the beholder, so if you think it is less jellied, let it be less jellied for you. Who cares what other people think?

My mini 6 is my primary device at home, using it for this post right now. The only time I ever even THINK about jelly scroll is when reading MacRumors, where I’m reminded that it exists.

Is it better with iOS 18? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ certainly doesn’t seem any worse.

I’ve had my 6th gen mini since 2021 I think and I have never notice this jelly thing smh
It only occurs in portrait orientation and is only really visible when scrolling very fast. All iPads do it to some degree but every other model does it in landscape orientation as far as I'm aware. The effect was far more visible on 9.7" Retina iPads in landscape orientation, so I never understood why the Mini 6 got so much flak for it. In normal use it's not a problem.
