iPad Jelly Scrolling on Older iPads vs Mini 6?

People who have an older Mini; is the jelly in Landscape on the old Mini's less noticeable than the jelly in portrait on the new Mini? I do NOT mean less noticeable because you use landscape less, but is it less noticeable when in landscape than the Mini 6's jelly is in portrait? Pretend you use the other Mini's mostly in Landscape and the Mini 6 mostly in Portrait; which is worse?

Because I'm mostly a landscape user, but it still is absolutely nauseating to me when using Portrait. Is landscape on the older Mini's that bad? I'm not going to go buy an older Mini but I think I'm going to return it and wait until the next iteration of the Mini or perhaps they will switch the newer mini 6's so that the jelly is in landscape instead. Is the Jelly in landscape on the old iPads as unbearable as it is in portrait on the mini 6?

My Mini 5 does not exhibit any jelly scrolling in portrait or landscape. I *CAN* see it on the Mini 6 (so it isn't a matter of my vision not being able to detect it)

I get jelly in landscape on my mini 4 .... however I've had this device since launch and I've only just noticed it today since reading about it.... so I've had several years of landscape use on my device without ever noticing this "issue" until I read about it.

I have a Mini 5 and there might be a tiny bit of jelly scrolling, hardly noticeable, but then again it could be my eyes playing tricks on me. The quality of the displays - and Apple's "response" - on the Mini 6 are inexcusable. It's one thing if it's a bad first batch, etc., but another if they're saying jelly scrolling to this degree is "normal." It shouldn't be when it's so immediately noticeable to customers, and I don't recall it ever being so widespread/noticeable/complained about with iPads prior.

The purple-tinted screen on my Mini 5, however, which I thought I'd be happy enough with after two others I returned were even worse? Well, that's another story. Upgrading to iPad 9 as the "budget" ones don't seem to exhibit this to the point where it's immediately noticeable. Kind of excited to have a larger display and better battery life, plus I can keep using my pencil 1. Same amount of RAM (never had a problem with performance), faster chip, better camera for video calls, way more storage for less than the iPad Mini 6 base model, and true tone also help justify it for me - no need to buy a more expensive model.

Jelly scrolling is hardly noticeable on my mini 5 in landscape, in fact, I would say it's almost non-existent and has never bothered me. I can notice it but it's nowhere near as annoying. Comparing it to mini 6 that I checked out at the store the other day, as mine has not been delivered yet, the jelly effect on mini 6 is far more apparent and noticeable, and also distracting. I am not sure I can live with that.

I'm now considering cancelling my preorder as the 256/Cellular version ends up being over $1100 where I live, and for that sort of money I don't think I'm willing to live with design issues like this one.

I understand your frustration as a longtime fan of the mini. If you want to stick with the mini size and have no problems with the one you already have, I'd recommend hanging onto it a couple more years. Personally I feel like these "all-screen" iPads are prioritizing thinness and aesthetics/features that justify higher entry prices over anything else. They're absolutely beautiful devices and I don't blame folks for snapping them up but, for me, I'd rather invest in something with fewer QA issues (especially if they're being labelled as "normal"). Here in Canada, the price for a 256 GB Mini is positively insane, and 64 GB ain't a hell of a lot better. Wouldn't mind the slight price increase if the screen was actually better instead of worse (this many people having issues with the scrolling doesn't indicate that it's "normal" to me despite the effect being commonplace yet way less pronounced on LCDs for years).

All screens exhibits jelly scrolling. The narrow screen in portrait mode is what makes it so noticable.
