Back in iOS 10 I had what I think was my favourite black wallpaper on a Jet Black iPhone 7. I thought it looked great, and then with a point release Apple f**ked it up by making the App Groups and Dock a hideous grey:

Aghhhh!

There have been various hacks since then that allowed something similar to the first screen, but they eventually broke and I kind of gave in with my iPhone X. iOS 14 has almost brought it back, but WTF have they done with the gap between the Apps and the Dock???

Some of the iOS development team really do need a trip to Specsavers!

..Higher vertical resolution. The gap at the top of the apps is also increased. Its like complaining of extra horizontal space going from ultrawide to a superultrawide monitor lol

Yeah, I'd played around with their hacks before and they do work quite well.

Gap aside, I'm quite impressed so far with the responsiveness and its certainly no slower than iOS13. I also like being able to choose my default browser and mail app. Let's hope they eventually allow this for any core app.

I was pretty anal about App Groups anyway, so the new App Library isn't a great leap forward, although I do like the big long page of apps when you open one of the groups - it's much better than the 3x3 grid when you open a group.

Not sure I'll use the widgets mixed in with the apps, but still need to see what I can do with them.

Going to do the iPad now...
