Gizmodo and Pocketlint have just reported Steve Jobs confirming the iphone3g He said, to a crowd accustomed to 3G: "You can expect a 3G iPhone later next year."

well, it is next year.. i'm expecting just an announcement, with maybe a release date? but for sure this iphone is the one i'm getting.
Hopefully it will be cross network & maybe apple will sell the 10million that it wants.

Apple has a 5 year contract with ATT

I doubt they announce in Jan unless release is imminent. Otherwise, it will canabalize sales. I see them announce/release in summer 08.
