I believe it was just a light reflecting on the iPad where everyone says there is a camera hole. Here are some other shots.
Unless, of course, the secret camera is covered completely by glass, then it doesn't exist.

In the Depths of the SLC!
Well the one where you can see the camera is a different one. You can see that spot where he holds the iPad up when he first introduces it. He then puts it down on the table and then he picks up the other iPad that is sitting on another table behind the chair.

I don't think anything of it though, it's cool to speculate though.

Looks more like an ambient light sensor, which we know the iPad has, to me.

If you really need a webcam can't you just use a wireless bluetooth webcam?
I mean, the iPad does have bluetooth, right? They already have one for a Mac and logitech is coming out with one. Maybe Apple will introduce a mini clip on bluetooth camera for the iPad. Am I missing something here?

I personally would prefer the camera-free model. But remember, there was a little talk during the blind rumors chatter that tech had reached the point where CCDs could be integrated directly into the display. For tele-conferencing, that would be ever so good, because there would be no parallax between the camera's view and what you are looking at.

Let me remind all of you that there were 3 iPads on stage that day. The one Steve Jobs unveiled, the one he used to demo everything (hooked up at the 30-pin dock connector) and the one the developers used to show of their applications.

What would be cool and elegant would be the camera underneath the glass so it doesn't show on the surface.

If there was gonna be a camera they would have stated it. Even if it didn't work at the time.

Maybe whatever issues they had in the iPod touch are still unresolved and affect the iPad as well.
