Well, by the 24th of December (at the latest) i will be an:apple:user <3
it took so long to actually order the thing. First we went to put the money on and i LOST my debit card under the windows computer *dunno how that happened LOL* and the second time we had to wait a day for the money to go through.
Now, as my brother continues using his own computer i will get the iMac! *evil laughter of some sort*
Now, my questions.
i just bought a refurb 2.0gHz core2duo 17inch imac. 128mb graphics, 1GB ram. etcetc...
Now, what should i do when i first boot up? Is there any shortcut of just going straight to installing leopard without having to go through tiger installation?
What are some applications that i'll need? Any new things (like keystrokes etc) i'll have to learn? And lastly, anything else you think i'll need to enjoy the full iMac experience? :)
Thanks a lot guys. These forums and its' people have helped me a lot. And now, i hope to join you people on the dark side..
because it seems you have something better than cookies. :D

1. Yes, technically. Start it up, and it'll do it's little intro screen where it says welcome in like 5,543 languages and plays an annoying song. Don't go through the setup wizard when you get to the first screen of the wizard. Stick the Leopard CD in. Shut down the computer. Reboot Holding C and just go through the steps. Fairly straight-forward.

2. Keystrokes...hmmm...well instead of CTRL everything is Apple. So if it was CTRL+C before it's Apple+C now. No Print screen on your keyboard...that's now Apple+Shift+4. Um...backspace and delete are on the same key now. Backspace for backspace...apple+backspace for delete. Hell the list goes on...maybe that'll help you a bit...

I am coming over also. On Wed my mac mini should be delivered. Our gateway (sorry to cuss) died last week and my wife has been without a computer. We had a budget of $500 so I found a new mac mini 1.8 ghz dual core with a superdirve on Ebay for $450. I am pretty excited I have wanted on for some time now.

Now I know where to go if I have questions.
