Jony Ive not an Executive Officer?

Anyone have an idea why Jony Ive is not listed as an executive officer on Apple's SEC filings? *He is the only SVP who isn't listed. Is it because he's a British citizen? *Does the SEC not require companies to disclose salary and stock information on foreign executives (outside of the CEO)? If that is the case I can see why Apple would choose not to disclose this information. But if that's not the case, it seems odd that Ive would be the only one not listed. Unless Apple doesn't want to disclose how large his salary is? *The British press has reported his salary being between $1M-$3M,*which is considerably more than the most recent SEC reported salaries for Scott Forstall and Bob Mansfield ($600K each).

I hope Jony and the rest of his team are well compensated. *IMO outside of Steve and Tim they've been most responsible for Apple's amazing success this past decade. One only has to look at companies like Samsung and all the Ultrabook makers so see the influence the Apple design team has had on consumer electronics.

It's been well established that pretty much nobody in Apple can touch Jonathan Ive, especially now that Steve Jobs is gone.

The reason he's not listed in the SEC filings is because he must not fit the requirements; i.e. he's not the CEO, CFO, or one of the three highest paid executives in the company other than the CEO/CFO.

I would think it's quite the other way around: without Steve Jobs as his daily protector, Ives is vulnerable.

Moreover, he's already expressed his desire to work from England.

It would not be surprising if Ives "retired" from Apple not long from now, staying on as a "consultant".

Thanks for the info. I looked at Apple's most recent proxy statement and the only executives whose salary was disclosed were Jobs, CFO Oppenheimer, Cook, Ron Johnson and Bruce Sewell, their general counsel. Yet Ive is the only SVP not listed as an "executive officer". I'm just curious if there is a specific reason for that. Especially with Steve telling Walter Isaacson that Ive had more 'operational control' than anyone but him at Apple. Unless Jobs was just talking BS...

The rumors of him wanting to work from the UK so his children could be educated there came from the British press. Ive never said any such thing. I call BS on the rumor. I'm sure some in the British media are annoyed that one of their brightest works for an American company and lives in California.

Walter Isaacson claims Ive and Tim Cook are 'joined at the hip', but who knows how much inside knowledge he really has. Without Steve around it might be harder for Ive to be inspired.

So that's why Steve called Ive his 'spiritual partner', said he understands Apple at it's core better than anyone and has more operational power than anyone but Steve himself. I think Forstall was mentioned 3 or 4 times in Isaacsons's book. Ive got a whole chapter. I'm not arguing that Forstall isn't important but I don't think he's more important than Ive or anyone else.

On one of the Beeb boards someone complained that Ive was too young to get this honour. Er, sportsman Steve Redgrave was 39 when he got his and Bob Geldof was in his 30's whe he got his honorary gong.

Unless Apple are an S-Corp then I doubt it although even then I don't think that would apply.

The fact is Ive is the best person on the planet in his field of design. Apple would be wise to give Ive anything he wants to keep him. Ive retiring would not be a bad thing in total. But if he leaves Apple you can't guarantee he will or won't work for the competition in some capacity. Yes I know Apple has NDA's but still Ive is Ive. He'd be brilliant anywhere.

Yep, just rumor, though it supposedly from a friend of his.

The biography was written before Jobs died. Power shifts will have taken place afterwards.

Personally, I hope Ives sticks around, but I'm sure there are people who can replace him if he leaves.
